黄金色に染まる秋の樫林 — golden autumn light through the oak forest canopy

FOUR MOODS OF THE SAME FOREST

ONE FOREST, FOUR TEMPERAMENTS

The Oak Woodlands Through the Year

The same stretch of oak forest can feel like four entirely different places over the course of a year. Nothing here changes overnight — spring arrives quietly, autumn deepens gradually — but the light, the ground cover, and the very air shift enough that a favourite path in April is barely recognisable by January.

Spring

New oak leaves unfurl a pale, almost translucent green, letting far more light reach the forest floor than at any other time of year. Along the woodland edges, a few scattered cherry trees flower quietly among the bare-branched oaks, unhurried and easy to miss if you aren't looking.

Summer

By midsummer the canopy has closed completely, and the forest floor cools by several degrees the moment you step beneath it. Sunlit clearings appear like bright rooms cut into deep shade — pockets of warmth and long grass where the light pools thick and golden.

Autumn

The oak leaves turn slowly, from green to amber to a deep, weathered copper, and the air sharpens into something clean and cool. Most visitors agree this is the best season for walking — comfortable temperatures, dry paths, and light that seems to come from everywhere at once.

Winter

Stripped of leaves, the oak branches trace fine, dark lines against a pale sky, and on quiet mornings a light snow can settle on the forest floor without a single footprint to disturb it. Winter here is the season of stillness — a good time to hear a woodpecker at work, or simply your own breath.
